How to Have Soft, Smooth Skin
Exfoliate At
Least Once a Week
Our skin has it natural mechanism of replacing older skin
cells with new skin layers. To avoid this dead skin staying longer on our body
and make our skin look dull we need to consider exfoliating our skin.
When we exfoliate assist in removing dead dirt, built-up
oil, and dead skin cells we make our skin feel softer.
There are a number ways
we can choose to exfoliate our skin and look beautiful:
Use exfoliating bath gloves/scrub sponge. You can purchase
one or make one an organic loofah sponge.
Rub the gloves or scrub sponge gently over your body and
don’t forget your torso and back. It is advisable to do this under a shower or
running water.
Avoid scrubbing hard on your face and on sensitive areas
such as the nipples and genitals.
You can also consider exfoliating by scrubbing your face
with a mixture of coffee grounds and some mild soap, or an exfoliation product.
Exfoliating at least once a week can just be enough for your
skin health, excess of that often cause skin irritation for some sensitive skin.
Products containing green tea extracts and glycolic acid can
help in any resulting redness.
Some homemade examples include sugar scrub and honey and
sugar scrub but there are many more varieties possible.
Wash
Properly
It is a good practice to bath at least once every day.
However, bathing too often, bathing for too long, or using hot water increase
moisture and loss of your skin’s natural oil.
When your skin loses its moisture or oil it cause dry and
flaky skin. So consider bathing with cool water. Using your hand or a soft
cloth instead of a scrubber to apply soap can be a good practice.
After bathing clean your body with a towel but not much to
leave the skin dry.
Shave
Properly
It is a good practice to shave after bathing so that your
skin can soften up and your skin pores can open up for an easy and clean
shaving.
It is good to use shaving cream or gel and shaving stick
with multiple blades. This practice is not for show but it is actually
healthy. A shaving stick with multiple
blades glides smoothly through your skin and gets you a closer shave. The
shaving cream helps avoid skin irritation.
Also shave downward, or in the direction of your hair growth
to prevent skin irritation.
Treat razor burn with a warm compress, and always moisturize
after shaving.
Moisturize Daily
Select a suitable moisturizer and use it often and
regularly.
Preferably use a moisturizer that has plant-based oils and
hydrating ingredients like cocoa butter, vitamin A, shea butter, vitamin E,
lavender, and chamomile.
Apply moisturizer after bathing when your body is not
completely dry for an effective soft skin result.
Other times when you can moisturize are after shaving,
before makeup, after cleaning off makeup, and after doing dishes.
You can moisturize overnight if you have a very dry skin.
This is how to: before bed, apply a heavy-duty moisturizing cream to dry areas
like your feet, hands, and elbows. Then wear gloves, cotton socks, and wrap
your elbows with a soft cloth.
Keep Makeup
Brushes Clean
All too often ladies do not wash their makeup brushes.
Regular use of a makeup brush without washing is unhygienic as they can harbor
bacteria with time.
These bacteria can spread from the brush to one part of your
body and then to another. Clogged pores, skin irritation and diseases can
result.
Wash your makeup brushes weekly with liquid soap and warm
water and allow them to dry out again before use.
Eat Well & Keep Skin Healthy
Eat healthy food for soft healthy skin. Healthy foods contain
ingredients and nutrients that will keep your skin supple, radiant and feel
younger.
Consider eating balanced diet containing fruits, vegetables,
and whole grains, and some healthy fats which are skin friendly foods.
Other foods healthy for the skin are those with high water
content such as watermelon, kiwi, celery, cantaloupe, apple, cucumber, and
zucchini.
Foods containing vitamin C and zinc also aid collagen and
elastin production. These foods help in proper blood circulation and passage of
nutrients to the skin. They can be found in nuts and seeds, beans, dark leafy
greens, citrus fruits, mushrooms, and berries.
Foods that have quantity of antioxidants like tomatoes, berries,
red and yellow peppers, and other red, orange, and yellow foods help to reduce
skin lines and wrinkles.
Drink Water Instead of
Sugary Drinks.
Consuming a lot of water daily is very healthy for our
health and keeps our skin looking moisturized.
Scientist says that we need to drink at least 8 times in a
day, so we do not want to wait until we are dehydrated to drink up.
While they are lots of sugar in most fruits they are healthy
for our body compared to the sugar found in soft drinks, which we need to avoid
and are known to cause wrinkles and saggy skin.
Exercise
Regularly
Regular exercise is good for our physical and mental health.
It also circulates blood around our system and get nutrients to the skin making
them functioning better, looking softer and healthy.
The sweat that comes from the workout also wipes clean dirt
and bacteria from the skin surface, thus helping to clear skin pores.
Make sure to bathe after a workout to clean off sweat and
dirt.
Get Enough Sleep
Sleep to some is a luxury. We want to consider sleeping as
an important part of our health and physical appearance.
When we sleep growth hormones are secreted that produces
collagen, a protein that keeps your skin taut, soft and wrinkle-free.
A good night of rest shouldn’t be considered a luxury, but
as necessary for smooth and soft skin.
Use Skin-friendly Foods Topically
There are lots of foods that are good for eating and having
a healthy skin, who can also perform wonders on our skin from the outside.
These skin-friendly foods can be applied on the skin and
enhance our beauty.
For example, potatoes when applied to the skin can help
reduce puffiness. Avocado mash can keep your skin looking fresh and plump.
Citrus fruits are another example that can serve as exfoliates.
A pineapple mash are good to brighten the skin.
